Magic Disk
The Magic Disk software that shows a digital signature by Chengdu Xingju Infinite Technology Co., Ltd. may be flagged as adware by most AV engines on the cybersecurity landscape. The Magic Disk software lacks an official site, and the only way to obtain a copy of the installer is to unpack free software bundles. PC users may be lead to believe that Magic Disk is an application that cleans disks, frees up space and removes temporary Internet files. However, we found no support for such features in the Magic Disk. The Magic Disk program has almost no options on its main program window and writes a few small files to the following locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\mgdisk.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\mgdinst.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\mgdisk.db3
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\uninst.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\sciter32.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\zlib.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\mgdisk\sqlite3.dll
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\cfidsk.sys
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\mgdisk
C:\Users\Public\Desktop\mgdisk.lnk
The Magic Disk may write a Registry key in Windows to boot with your OS and run in the background. PC users who may have installed the Magic Disk may notice a small icon on their desktops titled 'mgdisk.' Double-clicking the 'mgdisk' icon may load the 'Magic Disk' window and show a list of the memory devices connected to the computer currently. It is not a good idea to make changes to your disks using the Magic Disk from Xingju Infinite Technology Co., Ltd. The program at hand may interfere with your computer's ability to recognize connected memory storage devices, as well as inject advertisements in your Internet browser. There are reports from computer security researchers suggesting that the Magic Disk is used to push targeted commercials to PC users and record their Internet activity (entered search terms, browsing history, recent downloads, and approximate geographical location based on their IP address). The manual removal of the Magic Disk software is not encouraged as you may delete system-related files in the System32 folder. Some AV companies might flag the Magic Disk as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) while others may categorize it as adware.
